Circuit/System Description

During a side or frontal crash of sufficient force the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) will allow current to flow through the

deployment loop in order to deploy the air bag module. There are 2 shorting bars used within the module connector which will short together both

high and low circuits, when the connector is disconnected. This will prevent unwanted deployment of the inflator module during servicing.

DTC B1395 03

- Device Voltage Reference Output 1 Circuit Voltage Below Threshold

DTC B1395 07

- Device Voltage Reference Output 1 Circuit Voltage Above Threshold

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

Voltage for the interior backlighting components and stop lamp switch activation signal is supplied from the body control module (BCM). The BCM

applies a voltage reference through the instrument panel (I/P) dimming voltage reference circuit to the interior lamp dimming switch, which is part of

the headlamp switch. When the dimming switch is placed in the desired position, the dimmed voltage setting is applied from the interior lamp

dimming switch through the I/P dimming control circuit to the BCM. The BCM then applies the dimmed voltage to the I/P lamps supply voltage

circuit and they dim to the correct level.

The stop lamp switch is also supplied voltage on the same circuit for a stop lamp OFF signal to the BCM. When the stop lamp switch is activated the

voltage signal circuit to the BCM is opened prompting the BCM to illuminate the stop lamps.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* Battery voltage must be between 9-16 V.

* Ignition must be ON.

Circuit/System Description

The heated seat temperature sensor is located in the seat back just under the seat cover with the seat heating element. The temperature sensor is a 2

wire thermistor and resistance through the sensor varies with temperature. The signal circuit is referenced from 5 V within the memory seat module

(MSM) and the temperature of the seat surface determines the signal circuit voltage. Once the seat reaches the set temperature, the module will then

cycle the control circuits of the heating elements ON and OFF in order to maintain the desired seat temperature based on the feedback voltage from

the sensors.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The heated seat system must be active.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2435 02 or B2440 02

DTC Descriptors

DTC B0052 00

- Deployment Commanded

Circuit/System Description

The inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) contains a device that converts vehicle velocity changes into an electrical signal. The

SDM compares this electrical signal to a value stored in memory. When the generated signal exceeds the stored value, the SDM performs additional

signal processing and compares the generated signals to values stored in memory. When 2 of the generated signals exceed the stored values, the

SDM will cause current to flow through the deployment loops, deploying the air bags and/or pretensioners causing DTC B0052 to set.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

Sunday, May 26, 2019

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* If a seat switch circuit is active in one direction and the switch for the opposite direction is pressed, this DTC will set.

* Multiple DTCs will set if one of the switch signal circuits is shorted to voltage.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* A motor output driven in response to a switch considered failed, is deactivated for both directions.

* All memory recall commands are ignored.

* The MSM will respond to any other switch signal that has not set a DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The current DTC will clear and set the code to history, 3 seconds after the fault is no longer present and the ignition is cycled OFF then back

to ACC or RUN.

* A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive fault-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Description

When the ignition is turned ON, the passenger presence system (PPS) and the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) performs

tests to diagnose critical malfunctions. When the SDM has completed the power-up mode, the SDM will establish communication with the PPS

module. The SDM will also request the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to illuminate both of the PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF indicators ON for

5 seconds. If the SDM determines the correct PPS is installed and functioning normally, the SDM will illuminate the passenger air bags ON or OFF

indicator based on messages from the PPS. The SDM sends a message to the IPC to illuminate the appropriate PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF

indicator.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

All of the following conditions must exist for 5 seconds:

B0081 0F

The SDM sets this DTC if there is a fault present in the PPS module.

B0081 3A

The SDM sets this DTC when the SDM has received a message from the PPS which indicates a mismatch between the SDM and PPS module. There

is either an incorrect SDM or PPS module installed on this vehicle.

B0081 4B

The PPS module sets this DTC when the PPS module has not learned the calibrations.

B0081 5A

The PPS module sets this code when the PPS module has lost communications with the SDM.

B0081 39

The SDM sets this DTC when the SDM has received a critical fault message from the PPS module.

Important:

* When removing connectors inspect for damage, corrosion or poor connection. Damage or corrosion in the following requires

repair or replacement of the affected component/connector.

* PPS module

* SDM module

* PPS module harness connector

* SDM wiring harness connector

1. Ignition ON, verify that DTC B0081 is the only DTC set in the SDM or PPS module.

锟斤拷 If any other DTCs are set, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code

Descriptions/Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle).

2. Verify DTC B0081 0F, DTC B0081 3A, DTC B0081 39, or DTC B0081 71 is not set in the SDM. If any of these DTCs set in the SDM

diagnose the following:

* SDM DTC B0081 0F:

锟斤拷 If DTC B0081 0F sets in the SDM then the PPS module will set DTC B0081 4B or DTC B0081 5A. Refer to step #3 and diagnose the

PPS module DTC's. By diagnosing these two DTC's in the PPS module, DTC B0081 0F will be fixed in the SDM.

* SDM DTC B0081 3A:

锟斤拷 Either an incorrect replacement PPS module or SDM was placed in this vehicle. Check and make sure the part #'s are correct for each

module. If both part #'s are correct clear this DTC and see if DTC B0081 3A resets as a current DTC. If DTC B0081 3A resets then

replace the PPS module. Clear DTCs again and check if DTC B0081 3A sets as current again. If DTC B0081 3A sets again then

replace the SDM.

* SDM DTC B0081 39:

锟斤拷 If DTC B0081 39 sets in the SDM then replace the PPS module.

* SDM DTC B0081 71:

锟斤拷 If DTC B0081 71 sets in the SDM check and see if the SDM also sets DTC U0170. If DTC U0170 is set in the SDM then diagnose

DTC U0170. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions/Diagnostic

Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle). If DTC U0170 is not set in the SDM then check the connections at the SDM and PPS module.

Clear DTC's and check if DTC B0081 71 sets as current. If DTC B0081 71 sets as current again then replace the PPS module.

3. Verify DTC B0081 4B, or DTC B0081 5A is not set in the PPS module. If either of these DTCs set in the PPS module diagnose the following:

* PPS DTC B0081 4B:

锟斤拷 If DTC B0081 4B sets in the PPS module if the correct calibration was not learned by the PPS module. Perform the Passenger

Presence System Rezeroing procedure. Refer to Passenger Presence System Rezeroing (Tahoe Hybrid and Yukon Hybrid) (See:

Restraints and Safety Systems/Air Bag Systems/Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning/Passenger Presence System

Rezeroing (Tahoe Hybrid and Yukon Hybrid)).

* PPS DTC B0081 5A:

锟斤拷 If DTC DTC B0081 5A sets in the PPS module check the connections at the SDM and PPS module. Clear the DTC's and check if

DTC B0081 5A sets again in the PPS module. If DTC B0081 5A sets again replace the PPS module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

* SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs (See: Testing and Inspection/Component Tests and General Diagnostics/General Electrical Diagnostic

Procedures/Wiring Repairs/SIR/SRS Wiring Repairs)

* Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for PPS module and SDM replacement, setup, and

programming

DTC B0081 (Except Tahoe/Yukon Hybrid (No Denali))

2019 Cadillac Truck Escalade AWD V8-6.2L Diagnostic Instructions Page 265

Circuit/System Description

The 2WD HI indicator circuit consists of a light emitting diode (LED) feed circuit, a LED and a LED control circuit. The indicator dimming control

circuit is the LED feed circuit and continuously supplies B+ to the 2WD HI, 4WD Auto, 4WD HI and 4WD LO LEDs. When the 2WD HI mode has

been selected by the driver, the transfer case shift control module (TCCM) provides a ground through the 2WD HI indicator control circuit

illuminating the LED.

The TCCM tests the 2WD HI indicator circuit for unexpected voltage by monitoring the B+ supplied by the BCM on the indicator dimming control

circuit by grounding the 2WD HI indicator control circuit for 2 seconds during the Bulb Test at key ON.

Conditions for Running the DTC

B0785 01

* Ignition ON

* System voltage 10-18 V

* Instrument panel lights not dimmed.

* Daylight running lights MUST be commanded ON.

* Circuit tested when the 2WD HI indicator is commanded ON.

B0785 06

* Ignition ON

* System voltage 10-18 V

* Instrument panel lights not dimmed.

* Daylight running lights MUST be commanded ON.

* Circuit tested when the 2WD HI indicator is commanded OFF.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B0785 01

The TCCM detects 3.4 V or greater on the 2WD HI indicator control circuit when the 2WD HI indicator is commanded ON.

B0785 06

The TCCM detects 1.6 V or less for 1.5 seconds on the 2WD HI indicator control circuit when the 2WD HI indicator is commanded OFF.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Normal operation, the SERVICE 4WD indicator is not commanded ON. Driver is informed of fault via bulb inspection.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* The TCCM clears the DTC once the condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.

* A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm up cycles without a fault present.

* History DTCs can be cleared using a scan tool.

Diagnostic Aids

* A TRUE B+ has enough current to light a test light.

* A DIAGNOSTIC B+ is a low current circuit that DOES NOT have enough current to light a test light.

* A short to ground on the 2WD HI indicator control circuit will cause the 2WD HI indicator to remain ON at all times.

* An open or high resistance will cause the 2WD HI indicator to be inoperative during the 2 second bulb inspection.

* An open in the indicator dimming control circuit will cause the 2WD HI, 4WD Auto, 4WD HI and 4WD LO mode indicators to be inoperative

during the 2 second bulb inspection.

* EL-49741 - harness is a good source for 9 V.

* EL-49742 - harness is a good source for B+ and ground.

* With key REMOVED - opening a door puts a true B+ on the indicator dimming control circuit, TCSCS X1 pin 4. Other possible voltages are

listed below:

- Door open, key removed - indicator dimming control circuit voltage = true B+.

- Door open, key in, key OFF - indicator dimming control circuit voltage = true B+.

- Door open, key ON, engine OFF - indicator dimming control circuit voltage = diagnostic B+.
