锟斤拷 If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the HVAC



control module.



3. Ignition ON, test for 4.8-5.2 volts between the signal circuit terminal 1 and low reference circuit terminal 2.



锟斤拷 If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the



HVAC control module.



锟斤拷 If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the HVAC control



module.



4. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the evaporator air temperature sensor.



Component Testing



1. Test the evaporator air temperature sensor by varying the sensor temperature while monitoring the sensor resistance.



2. Compare the readings with the Sensor Resistance Table (See: Heating and Air Conditioning/Specifications/Electrical Specifications) and



verify that the resistance is within 5 percent of the specification.



锟斤拷 If not within the specified range, replace the sensor.

- Transponder Authentication Error



Circuit/System Description



When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is



energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value,



which is received by the theft deterrent module (TDM). The TDM then compares this value to a value stored in memory. This stored value is the



learned key code. If the value is correct, the TDM will send the prerelease password via the serial data circuit to the engine control module (ECM).



If the transponder value does not match the learned key code or a transponder value is not received, the TDM will send the start disable password to



the ECM.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* Ignition is in the Accessory or Run position.



* A valid transponder value has been read.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



* The transponder value is valid and matches the value stored in the TDM memory.



* The transponder calculation to the challenge from the TDM does not match the TDM calculation.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



* Vehicle starting will be disabled.

锟斤拷 If not within the specified range, perform the Circuit/System Testing.



2. Observe the scan tool Object Sensor Supply Voltage parameter while pressing and releasing the B71R liftgate object sensor - right. The



reading should change from Inactive to Active as the sensor is pressed and released.



锟斤拷 If the value does not change, test or replace the B71R liftgate object sensor - right.



3. Observe the scan tool Object Sensor Supply Voltage parameter while pressing and releasing the B71L liftgate object sensor - left. The reading



should change from Inactive to Active as the sensor is pressed and released.



锟斤拷 If the value does not change, test or replace the B71L liftgate object sensor - left.



4. Command the liftgate to power close by pressing the B70 liftgate close switch and as the liftgate is closing, press the B71R liftgate object



sensor - right or the B71L liftgate object sensor - left. The liftgate should stop and power open.



锟斤拷 If the liftgate continues to power close, replace the K39 liftgate module.



Circuit/System Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the B71R liftgate object sensor - right.



2. Test for less than 10 ohm between the low reference circuit terminal B and ground.



锟斤拷 If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal,



replace the K39 liftgate module.



3. Disconnect the harness connector at the B71L liftgate object sensor - left.



4. Ignition ON, test for 4.75-5.25 V between the signal circuit terminal A and ground.



锟斤拷 If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the



K39 liftgate module.



锟斤拷 If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K39 liftgate module.



5. Test of infinite resistance between the signal circuit terminal B and ground.



锟斤拷 If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to ground.



6. Test for less than 10 ohm between the signal circuit terminal A at the B71R liftgate object sensor - right and the signal circuit terminal B at the



B71L liftgate object sensor - left.



锟斤拷 If greater than the specified range, test the signal circuit for an open/high resistance.



7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate B71 liftgate object sensor.



Component Testing



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate B71 liftgate object sensor.



2. Test for 8K-12K ohm between the signal terminal A and the low reference terminal B.



锟斤拷 If not within the specified range, replace the B71 liftgate object sensor.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



The inflatable restraint front end sensor utilizes a unidirectional 2-wire circuit. The front end sensor modulates current on the interface to send ID,



state of health, and deployment commands to the inflatable restraint sensing and diagnostic module (SDM). The SDM serves as a power source and



a ground for the front end sensor. When the ignition is turned ON and input power from the SDM is first detected, the front end sensor responds by



performing internal diagnostics and sending an ID to the SDM. The SDM considers the ID to be valid if the response time is less than 5 seconds.



The front end sensor continually communicates status messages to the SDM, which determines if a fault is present in the front end sensor circuit.



When a fault is detected, the SDM may reset the front end sensor up to 2 times by removing and reapplying power to it. If the fault is still present,



the SDM will set a DTC.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



Any of the following conditions exist for 2.5 seconds:



B0083 00, B0084 00, B0085 00, B0086 00, B0087 00, B0088 00



* The front end sensor has been shorted to voltage, open, or shorted to ground.



* The front end sensor current has been above 23 mA for longer than 5 milliseconds.



* The SDM has not received a message from the front end sensor for more than 375 milliseconds.



B0083 0F, B0084 0F, B0085 0F, B0086 0F, B0087 0F, B0088 0F



The SDM has received erratic messages from the front end sensor.

- Tilt Down Switch Circuit Short to Battery



Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit Description



The memory seat module (MSM) receives voltage inputs from the tilt switch based on the position of the switch. The MSM then supplies battery



voltage and a ground to the tilt motor control circuits depending on which direction of movement is requested.



Conditions for Running the DTC



The ignition ON.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



The MSM detects a tilt switch input for more than 30 consecutive seconds after the tilt motor movement has stopped.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



* The tilt motor will be deactivated.



* Memory recall functions will be disabled.



Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* A current DTC will clear when the failed switch input is no longer active.



* A history DTC will clear after 100 ignition cycles.



Diagnostic Aids



An intermittently stuck tilt switch may cause a DTC to set.
