2010 Cadillac CTS Sedan AWD V6-3.0L Page 1879



1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate multi-way harness connector X109 or X110, at the rear of the intake manifold.



2. Ignition ON, observe the appropriate scan tool Cylinder 1-6 Injector Control Circuit Status. The parameter should display Open.



瀚慖f not the specified value, test the appropriate high voltage supply circuit, ECM side, for a short to ground or the appropriate high voltage



control circuit, ECM side, for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the K20 ECM.



3. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the appropriate high voltage supply circuit and the high voltage control circuit. The Injector



Control Circuit Status should transition from Open to OK.



瀚慖f not the specified value, test for the following conditions in the ECM side of the harness:



* An open/high resistance in the high voltage supply circuit



* An open/high resistance in the high voltage control circuit



* A short to ground in the high voltage control circuit



* A short to voltage in the high voltage supply circuit



瀚慖f the circuits test normal, replace the K20 ECM.



Note: Testing for the following steps is performed on the fuel injector side of the multi-way harness connector. It may be necessary to



remove the intake manifold to isolate the condition.



4. Ignition OFF, measure the resistance between the appropriate high voltage supply circuit and ground. The DMM should display OL ohm.



瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the high voltage supply circuit and the high voltage control circuit for a short to ground. If the



circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the appropriate Q17 fuel injector(s).



5. Test for 2-3 ohm between the appropriate high voltage supply circuit and high voltage control circuit.



瀚慖f less than the specified range, test for a short between the high voltage supply circuit and high voltage control circuit. If the



circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the appropriate Q17 fuel injector(s).



瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the high voltage supply circuit and high voltage control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the



circuits/connections test normal, test or replace the appropriate Q17 fuel injector.



Component Testing



Note: The DMM and test leads must be calibrated to 0 ohm in order to prevent misdiagnosis.



1. Remove the intake manifold and disconnect the appropriate Q17 fuel injector.



2. Test for 1.9-2.3 ohm at 20掳C (68掳F) between the high voltage supply circuit terminal 2 and the high voltage control circuit terminal 1 at the



Q17 fuel injector.



瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the Q17 fuel injector.



3. Measure the resistance between each terminal at the Q17 fuel injector and the Q17 fuel injector housing/case. The DMM should display OL



ohm.



瀚慖f less than the specified value, replace the Q17 fuel injector.

3. Ignition ON, connect a test lamp between the appropriate high voltage supply circuit and the high voltage control circuit. The Injector

2. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate multi-way harness connector X116 or X117, at the rear of the intake manifold.



Note: Testing for steps 3 through 12 is performed on the ECM side of the multi-way harness connector.



3. Connect a test lamp between ground and the high voltage supply circuit terminal of the appropriate injector listed below.



* Fuel Injector 1 terminal 8 X117



* Fuel Injector 2 terminal 2 X116



* Fuel Injector 3 terminal 9 X117



* Fuel Injector 4 terminal 4 X116



* Fuel Injector 5 terminal 10 X117



* Fuel Injector 6 terminal 6 X116



4. Crank or start the engine while observing the test lamp. The test lamp should flash several times and then stop when the DTC sets.



Note: Four of the injector high voltage supply circuits are paired in the controller with a dual driver, refer to Diagnostic Aids.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always ON, test the high voltage supply circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.



瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the high voltage supply circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests



normal, replace the ECM.



5. Clear the DTC information with a scan tool, then cycle the ignition OFF.



6. Connect a test lamp between B+ and the high voltage control circuit terminal of the appropriate injector listed below.



* Fuel Injector 1 terminal 2 X117



* Fuel Injector 2 terminal 1 X116



* Fuel Injector 3 terminal 3 X117



* Fuel Injector 4 terminal 3 X116



* Fuel Injector 5 terminal 4 X117



* Fuel Injector 6 terminal 5 X116



7. Ignition ON, the test lamp should not illuminate.



瀚慖f the test lamp is ON, test the high voltage control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM.



8. Connect a test lamp between ground and the high voltage control circuit terminal of the appropriate injector listed below.



* Fuel Injector 1 terminal 2 X117



* Fuel Injector 2 terminal 1 X116



* Fuel Injector 3 terminal 3 X117



* Fuel Injector 4 terminal 3 X116



* Fuel Injector 5 terminal 4 X117



* Fuel Injector 6 terminal 5 X116



9. Ignition ON, the test lamp should not illuminate.
