DTC Descriptor

DTC B1016 00

- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Information Not Programmed

Circuit/System Description

After a loss of battery power has been restored, the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) will perform a check on the stored vehicle

identification number (VIN). If the VIN is CORRECT, the RCDLR will run the VIN Timer for a programmable length of time, typically 10

minutes. The RCDLR will send a message via the serial data circuit to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) to illuminate the SECURITY indicator.

After the VIN Timer has timed out, the security indicator will turn OFF. If the VIN is INCORRECT, the RCDLR will send the fuel disable

password to the engine control module (ECM), via the serial data circuit. The immobilizer system considers this to be a tamper and will not allow

the vehicle to start. The RCDLR will send a message via the serial data circuit to the IPC to flash the SECURITY indicator.

Danger: Always perform the High Voltage Disabling procedure prior to servicing any High Voltage component or connection.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and proper procedures must be followed.

The High Voltage Disabling procedure will perform the following tasks:

* Identify how to disable high voltage.

* Identify how to test for the presence of high voltage.

* Identify condition under which high voltage is always present and personal protection equipment (PPE) and proper procedures

must be followed.

Failure to follow the procedures exactly as written may result in serious injury or death.

1. Ignition OFF, disable the high voltage at the drive motor generator battery. Refer to High Voltage Disabling ().

2. Ignition OFF, disconnect harness connector X4 of the accessory DC power control module.

3. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the accessory DC power control module connector terminal and ground.

瀚慖f greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

4. Ignition ON, disconnect harness connector X3 of the accessory DC power control module.

5. Verify that a test lamp illuminates between the accessory DC power control module connector terminal A and ground.

瀚慖f the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal,

replace the HVAC control module.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the 5-volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the HVAC

control module.

6. Verify the scan tool Door Position parameter is greater than 250 counts.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the following signal circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the HVAC control

module.

* Air temperature actuator-left terminal 3

* Air temperature actuator-right terminal 3

* Mode actuator terminal 3

* Recirculation actuator terminal 5

7. Install a 3A fused jumper wire between the following signal circuit terminal and the low reference circuit terminal. Verify the scan tool Door

Circuit/System Verification

1. With a scan tool, verify the stored VIN in the following modules matches the actual vehicle VIN:

* IPC

* XBCM

* DDM

* PDM

瀚慖f any modules stored VIN does not match the actual VIN, perform the setup procedure for that module. If the stored VIN does not match

after setup, replace the module.

2. If all modules VIN match, replace the TDM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptor

DTC B0997 00

- Auxiliary Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 2 Performance

Circuit/System Description

The navigation radio communicates with the navigation display via serial data. If the navigation radio receives an improper status response

message, DTC B0997 will set.
