(DTC) Type Definitions)

Scan Tool Reference

Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for scan tool information

Circuit/System Verification

1. If other DTCs are set, diagnose them first.

2. Ignition ON, transmission shift lever in Park, observe the scan tool Driver Shift Control parameter. The reading should display Inactive.

3. With the transmission shift lever in manual mode (M), observe the scan tool Driver Shift Control parameter. The reading should display

active.

4. Observe the scan tool Driver Shift Request parameter. The reading should display None.

5. Press the left Tap Up (+) switch, left Tap Down (-) switch, right Tap Up (+) switch and right Tap Down (-) switch while observing the scan

tool Up and Down Shift Switch parameter. The parameter should read Upshift when the Tap Up switch is pressed, and Downshift when the

Tap Down switch is pressed, and None when neither switch is pressed.

6. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the transmission shift lever.

2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the ignition circuit harness connector terminal 3 and ground.

瀚慖f the test lamp does not illuminate, test the IGN circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace

the BCM.

3. Verify the scan tool Driver Shift Request parameter indicates Invalid.

瀚慖f other than the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

4. Ignition OFF, test for 8.0-8.5 k ohms between the left automatic transmission manual shift switch terminals 3 and 5. Verify the resistance

changes to 2.7-3.1 k ohms when the Tap Up switch is pressed and 1.1-1.5 k ohms when the Tap Down switch is pressed.

瀚慖f not the specified value, replace the left automatic transmission manual shift switch.

5. Test for open circuit on the left automatic transmission manual shift switch harness connector between terminals 1 and 2 and between

terminals 2 and 3. Test for less than 10 ohms between terminals 1 and 2 when the right automatic transmission manual shift tap down (-)

switch is pressed and between terminals 2 and 3 when the Tap Up (+) switch is pressed.

瀚慖f not the expected results, test the circuits between the left and right automatic transmission manual shift switch for an open/high

resistance or short to ground. If circuits test normal, replace the right automatic transmission manual shift switch.

6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the transmission control.
