瀚慖f the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace

the BCM.

4. Ignition OFF, connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 52 at the ECM harness connector and the connector terminal at the

ECM.

5. Ignition ON, turn the stop lamps ON and OFF by applying and releasing the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when

changing between the selected states.

瀚慖f the test lamp does not turn ON and OFF when commanded, replace the ECM.

6. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector at the ECM.

7. Disconnect the harness connector at the TCM.

8. Connect a test lamp between the signal circuit terminal 6 and ground.

9. Ignition ON, turn the stop lamps ON and OFF by applying and releasing the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when

changing between the selected states.

瀚慖f the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.

瀚慖f the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace

the BCM.

10. If all circuits test normal, replace the TCM.

DTC Descriptors

DTC C0298 00

- Park Brake Unlatch Switch Circuit Malfunction

Circuit/System Description

The electric parking brake control module has an internal motor, apply actuator, release actuator, and temperature sensor. The electric parking brake

control module also contains the logic for applying and releasing the parking brake when commanded by the electric parking brake switch. When

the electric parking brake control module receives a signal from the switch the internal circuit board temperature is checked to verify it is within

operating range before the control module performs the requested operation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition OFF, ACCESSORY, or RUN mode.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The electric parking brake module detects the apply or release button was activated for more than 90 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

A DIC message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.
