Correction
Important
The steering wheel lower spoke cover and steering wheel spoke bezels are now available for service as separate parts. DO NOT order the
complete steering wheel assembly if these parts are needed.
Replace the appropriate steering wheel cover or bezel following the procedure below:
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SI.
Tip
Insert a flat ended 4 mm Allen wrench or similar tool into the backside of the steering wheel cover hole and release the retainer spring while
pulling back on the airbag module.
2. Remove the driver's side airbag module from the steering wheel. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in SI.
- If the cruise control (left) steering wheel control bezel (1) or the radio (right) steering wheel bezel (2) needs to be replaced, refer to
Steering Wheel Control Switch Assembly Replacement in SI.
Tip
Remove the control switch from the back of the bezel by releasing the four plastic retaining tabs with a small screwdriver.
- If the steering wheel lower spoke cover (3) needs to be replaced, proceed to Step 3.
3. Remove the two TORX(R) screws from the steering wheel lower cover.
4. Remove the center steering wheel lower spoke cover from the steering wheel assembly.
5. Install the new steering wheel lower spoke cover onto the steering wheel.
6. Install the two TORX(R) screws into the new cover.
Tighten
Tighten the two screws to 2 Nm(18 lb in).
7. Connect the two electrical connectors to driver's side airbag module and seat the assurance (CPA) retainers.
8. Install the airbag module into the steering wheel and seat the module.
9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling in SI.
