(DTC) Type Definitions)

Scan Tool Reference

Control Module References (See: Testing and Inspection/Programming and Relearning) for scan tool information

Circuit/System Verification

1. Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTC P0627, P0628, P0629, P069E, or U0109 should not set.

瀚慖f a DTC is set refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle (See: Diagnostic Trouble Code Descriptions/Diagnostic Trouble

Code (DTC) List - Vehicle).

2. Attempt to start and idle the engine.

3. Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTCs P0089, P00C6, P228C, and P228D should not set.

4. Engine idling, observe the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter with a scan tool. The pressure should be approximately 1.9-2.1 Mpa (279-305

psi).

5. Command an increase and decrease in Fuel Pressure with a scan tool. Observe the scan tool Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor parameter. The Fuel

Rail Pressure Sensor parameter should increase or decrease with each commanded state.

6. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC to verify the DTC does not reset. You may also operate the vehicle within the

conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Note: Circuit/System Verification must be performed first or misdiagnosis may result.

1. Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Fuel Pump Control Module Fuel Pressure Sensor parameter. Command an increase in Fuel Pressure with a

scan tool. Verify the Fuel Pressure Sensor parameter increases to greater than 414 kPa (60 psi) as commanded.

瀚慖f less than the specified range, refer to Fuel System Diagnosis (LF1 China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air

Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (China))Fuel System Diagnosis (LF1 Except China) (See:

Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (Except China))Fuel

System Diagnosis (LAU China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel

System Diagnosis (China))Fuel System Diagnosis (LAU Except China) (See: Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air

Induction/Fuel Pump/Testing and Inspection/Fuel System Diagnosis (Except China)).

Note: As little as 2 ohm on either circuit of the high pressure fuel pump actuator will cause these DTCs to set. Test the circuits of the high

pressure fuel pump actuator for a high resistance if you suspect a condition.

2. Remove the G18 high pressure fuel pump and visually inspect the lobes on the camshaft for unusual wear.

瀚慖f the lobes appear normal, replace the G18 high pressure fuel pump.

瀚慖f the lobes are worn, replace the camshaft.

Component Testing

Static Test

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the G18 high pressure fuel pump.

Note: The DMM and test leads must be calibrated to 0 ohm in order to prevent misdiagnosis.

2. Test for 10 ohm plus/minus 1 ohm at 25掳C (77掳F) between the low control circuit terminal 1 and the high control circuit terminal 2.

瀚慖f not within the specified range, replace the G18 high pressure fuel pump.

3. Test for infinite resistance between each terminal and the G18 high pressure fuel pump housing.

瀚慖f not the specified value, replace the G18 high pressure fuel pump.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

Engine - Drive Belt Noise Inspect Pulley

TECHNICAL

Bulletin No.: 10-06-01-006

Date: July 26, 2010

Subject: Intermittent or Continuous Drive Belt Noise (Inspect for Pulley Damage, Misalignment and/or Replace Drive Belt)

Models:

2010 Buick LaCrosse

2010 Cadillac SRX

2010 Chevrolet Equinox

2010 GMC Terrain

Equipped with 3.0L (RPO LF1) or 3.6L (RPO LLT) V6 Engine

Built Prior to February 27, 2010

Condition

Some customers may comment on an intermittent or continuous drive belt noise.

Cause

2010 Cadillac Truck SRX FWD V6-3.0L Page 237

This condition may be caused by any of the following:

- One or more of the accessory drive pulleys may be misaligned, bent or damaged.

- The power steering (PS) pump pulley may be misaligned due to improper mounting on the PS pump.

- The drive belt may need to be replaced.

Correction

1. Verify the intermittent or continuous drive belt noise condition exists.

瀚慖f the condition exists, proceed to Step 2.

瀚慖f the condition does not exist, then this bulletin does not apply.

2. Perform a visual inspection for damage to any accessory drive pulley or to the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Chirping, Squeal and Whine

Diagnosis in SI.

瀚慖f the diagnosis reveals a condition, then repair as needed.

瀚慖f the diagnosis does not reveal a condition, proceed to Step 3.

3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in SI.

Important

To properly perform Step 4, you MUST refer to and follow the referenced procedure.

4. Inspect the PS pump pulley and determine if it is flush with the PS pump shaft on the FRONT side. Refer to Corporate Bulletin Number

08-06-01-008A, Diagnosing Accessory Drive Belt/Serpentine Belt Noise and Use of Laser Alignment Tool in SI.

瀚慖f the inspection reveals that the PS pump pulley is properly aligned, then replace the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in SI.

Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

The primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor change resistance based on fuel level. The engine control module (ECM) monitors

the signal circuits of the primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor in order to determine the fuel level. When the fuel tank is full,

the resistances of both fuel level sensors are low and the ECM senses a low signal voltage on both the signal circuits of the primary fuel level

sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor. When the fuel tank is empty, the resistances of the fuel level sensors are high and the ECM senses a high

signal voltage. The ECM uses the signal circuits of the primary fuel level sensor and the secondary fuel level sensor in order to calculate the

percentage of remaining fuel in the tank. The ECM sends the fuel level percentage via High Speed CAN-Bus to the body control module (BCM).

The BCM then sends the fuel level percentage via Low Speed CAN-Bus to the instrument cluster in order to control the fuel gauge.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The engine is running

* The system voltage is between 11-16 V

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P0461 or P2066

* The ECM detects a difference between the fuel consumed by the engine and change of the fuel level signal of less than 1 L (0.26 gal) over a

range of 30 L (7.92 gal) or 45.6% of the primary fuel tank.

* The above condition is present for about 300 seconds.

P0462 or P2067

* The signal voltage is less than 0.25 V.

* The above conditions must be met for 5 seconds.

P0463 or P2068

* The signal voltage is greater than 4.7 V.

* The above conditions must be met for 5 seconds.

P0464

* The fuel level change is greater than 10%.

* The above conditions must be met for 30 seconds.

* DTC P0464 runs and fails 2 out of 3 test cycles.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* P0461, P0462, P0463, P0464, P2066, P2067 and P2068 are Type B DTCs
