瀚慖f less than the specified range, test the circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the

K20 ECM.

瀚慖f greater than the specified range, test the circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the K20 ECM.

4. If the circuits test normal, replace the appropriate B68 knock sensor.

P06B6 and P06B7

* Verify that the following DTCs are not set: DTC P0325, P0327, P0328, P0330, P0332 and P0333.

瀚慖f any of the DTCs are set, diagnose them first.

* DTCs P06B6 and P06B7 indicate an internal ECM circuitry failure. Replace the K20 ECM if no external knock sensor circuit issues exist.

Component Testing

1. Connect the DMM between the B68 knock sensor signal circuit terminal A and the B68 knock sensor signal circuit terminal B on the sensor

side of the appropriate B68 knock sensor harness connector.

2. Set the DMM to the 400 mV AC hertz scale and wait for the DMM to stabilize at 0 Hz.

Note: DO NOT tap on plastic engine components.

3. Tap on the engine block with a non-metallic object near the B68 knock sensor while observing the signal indicated on the DMM.

4. The DMM should display a fluctuating frequency while tapping on the engine block.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (See: Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.

DTC Descriptors

DTC P0008

- Engine Position System Performance Bank 1

DTC P0009

- Engine Position System Performance Bank 2

Circuit/System Description

The engine control module (ECM) tests for a misalignment between both camshafts on one bank of the engine and the crankshaft. The

misalignment would be at an idler sprocket for either bank or at the crankshaft. Once the ECM learns the position of both camshafts on one bank of

the engine, the ECM compares the learned values to a reference value. The ECM will set a DTC if both learned values for one bank of the engine

are exceeding a calibrated threshold in the same direction.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* DTC P0010, P0011, P0013, P0014, P0020, P0021, P0023, P0024, P0341, P0342, P0343, P0346, P0347, P0348, P0366, P0367, P0368,

P0391, P0392, P0393, P2088, P2089, P2090, P2091, P2092, P2093, P2094, or P2095 is not set.

* The engine is operating for greater than 50 seconds.

* The engine coolant temperature is between 0-95掳C (32-203掳F).

锟斤拷If less than the specified range, test the circuits for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the

ECM.

锟斤拷If greater than the specified range, test the circuits for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the ECM.

9. Test for intermittent or poor connections at the ECM, KS, and in-line connectors where present.

10. If all circuits test normal, replace the ECM.
